YSSL Coaching Pass
(REQUIRED FOR COACHES AND ASSISTANT COACHES)
Part 1 - IYSA's SportsEngine Background Check

Please read through this information before clicking on the link below. The only background check accepted by the Illinois Youth Soccer Assoc. (IYSA) is the one below.

Background checks through the IYSA are $20.50. Scroll to the bottom of the IYSA page to click and begin the SPORTSENGINE BG CHECK.

Through the link above, create a profile on SportsEngine with an email that you have immediate access to. Once a profile is set up, check your email to continue the background check process. Click on the "COMPLETE SCREENING" link on your email. Have your concussion certificate handy to upload or do the free concussion training via the link provided. SafeSport Training or SafeSport Refresher (20 minutes) must also be completed from the same email, but first complete your background check. The YSSL does not issue temporary coaching passes if you have not cleared your background check and the SafeSport training.
Part 2 - Coaching Education/License
Please upload proof of your A / B / C / D / or E license to your YSSL profile.

YSSL coaches must have at a minimum an 11v11 Blended Course (4 hour course, $90). F licenses are no longer accepted.
If a coach would like to work towards a US Soccer Grassroots License please follow the steps below:
Step 1. Create a coaching profile in the US Soccer Digital Coaching Center(DCC). DCC Link (Free)
Step 2. Complete the U.S. Soccer Introduction to Grassroots Coaching Module - this is not a course (Free - 20 minutes)
*** If you have previously completed the "F" license, skip to step #4 (no need to complete the online course) ***
Step 3. Complete one 2 Hour Online Course – 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, or 11v11 courses ($25 per course payable to US Soccer);
Step 4. Attend one 4-hour Blended 11v11 Course; PLUS
Step 5. Attend one 4-hour Blended 9v9, 7v7 OR 4v4.

Step 6. After completion of the 11v11 Course, a link will be sent to you by the IYSA to participate in the Introduction to IYSA Competitive Club Soccer Webinar (Free - 60 minutes)
This pathway will qualify you to take the D license course, should you want to pursue further coaching education. There is no wait period between completion of the Grassroots and registering for the D license course.
Temporary YSSL Coaching Pass.p. A coach is eligible for a temporary pass when a background check is completed & cleared AND when registration and completion of an online grassroots course can be verified. The pass is only good for one season (fall or spring). The 11v11 Blended course will need to be completed before the next season. Contact Patty at ysslpatty@gmail.com with any questions.
